What Should I Take With Me?

It's important to make sure to wear proper attire for weather conditions including water shoes. Our recommended items to bring on your tour include:

  • Spare pair of dry clothes

  • Hat, Sunglasses & Sun cream for sunny days

  • Drinking water

  • Flip Flops for quick transfers round a lock

  • Towel

  • Waterproofs for rainy days

  • Thermals and wetsuit for cold weather

Most importantly...bring that smile and great attitude!

Is There Parking at Your Launch Sites

Yes, there are numerous public Pay & Display Car Parks at each of our launch sites. In Newbury Library Car Park there is small hourly charge. At Kintbury, these car parks are normally free. Please always check the permissions carefully when parking. The parking fee is separate to your paddleboard tour booking fee. You will need to pay for parking in addition.

Are You Taking Any COVID-19 Precautions

Yes! We are following government guidelines and practising social distancing throughout our sessions from start to finish, from arrival to goodbye.

Boards will be placed 2 meters apart on arrival and we will maintain this throughout the session. We will wipe down the boards and paddles before and after the session and will provide antibacterial hand sanitiser on arrival and departure.

Is there anywhere to store my belongings?

We have a vehicle that will be locked for the duration of the session that you can make use of, but we recommend that you do not bring valuables with you. No responsibility can be taken for items that we store for you in our vehicle. There are some excellent waterproof bags available to purchase online which are a great way to keep your items safe.

I Have My Own Paddleboard, Can I Join?

Absolutely. As long as you have your own Waterways Licence you can join us. The more the merrier. We ask for a £20 contribution to join us as a non-guest, payable via link. We just ask that you arrive slightly earlier and have your own means to pump up your board :).

Do I Need Any Previous Experience To Join?

None! You only need to know how to swim. Most of our guests have had no prior experience with paddleboarding, therefore at your designated launch site, one of our trained guides will give you a great introduction to paddleboarding and provide you with all of the necessary equipment and give you an informative safety lesson. Regardless of your age or skill level you will find that our expeditions are safe and rewarding.

Are There Any Physical Limitations?

Anyone in average physical condition may join a Wild Paddle Berkshire trip. The only prerequisite we require is a healthy spirit of curiosity and adventure and the ability to swim. Our tours are not considered to be strenuous or physically demanding, and we do not require a high level of fitness, however, if you have any physical impairments that require special services, or have concerns about any special needs you or your group may have, please call us to discuss them.

Can I bring my dog?

We love this idea, but for your first session booked with us, we'd prefer it was just you. After the first session we are open to being joined by your furry friend depending on your (and their) abilities. They can make great paddleboard companions but we are naturally keen to ensure they do not disrupt the session and that they are always kept under control by you.

What happens if I fall in?

It happens. You wouldn't be the first and you certainly won't be the last. Most of the time, you'll feel like getting back on your board and carrying on with the session. If it is a bit chilly, we might recommend changing your clothing.

If the Weather is Bad will it be rescheduled?

In the interest of safety, we do not head out on the water in very high winds or if there is forecast thunder or lightning. In the event of having to cancel a session, we will endeavour to reschedule to another date. We have had some of our best sessions when the weather was forecast to be less than perfect so with that in mind, we always endeavour to start a session but will continually assess.
